Guitar Lessons

Book a Lesson

Simple To Start

The first thing to know is that whichever route you choose later, every path begins the same way – with five one-to-one lessons.

All you need to do to begin is book and pay for the first guitar lesson using our online booking system, then simply turn up to the GTL teaching space in Tadley.

Preliminary guitar lessons are charged on an individual basis.

Lessons

Prices for guitar lessons adhere to the Musicians’ Union recommended rate, which is currently set at £36 per hour for the period 2021-2022. This figure is adjusted pro rata for lesson duration, resulting in the following tariff:

  • Half hour guitar lesson
    £20
  • Forty-five minute guitar lesson
    £28
  • One hour guitar lesson
    £36
  • Two hour guitar lesson
    £65

Guitar lessons can occur face-to-face, or remotely via Skype, at your preference. Face-to-face lessons are held at the teacher’s premises. (Unfortunately travel to the student is not currently offered for the Tadley area.)

After the Preliminary Five

When you reach guitar lesson number five, you’ll then be invoiced quarterly for whatever GuitarToLife services you want for that period.

We define quarters as follows:

1st Quarter: Jan-Mar

2nd Quarter: Apr-Jun

3rd Quarter: Jul-Sep

4th Quarter: Oct-Dec

(Your final preliminary guitar lesson will most likely occur part-way through a quarter, in which case you’ll be invoiced only for the remainder of it.)

Refunds: no, Rebates: yes

No refunds are issued for any unused GuitarToLife services. However, in the event of a missed guitar lesson, the student is eligible for a rebate on the subsequent payment for the following quarter. e.g. if a one-hour guitar lesson is missed during the quarter due to say, illness of student/teacher, and could not be rescheduled within that period, the fee for that missed guitar lesson will be deducted from the next invoice.

These stipulations may be overruled in extreme circumstances, but solely at the teacher’s discretion.

Coaching

Coaching is best suited to people who:

  • Are motivated by both stick and carrot

  • Have a budget to consider.

  • Want to self-teach, but benefit from regular feedback.

All the Free Things

Guitar to Life students enjoy a range of freebies. These are designed to enhance the efficacy of learning, and provide opportunities for students to play with people and for people. Such freebies include:

  • Online tuitional content relating to every subject covered in the guitar lesson, accessible 24/7. This material includes video demonstrations, diagrams, and detailed written instruction.
  • Access to our weekly communal practice sessions. We hold two communal practice sessions which occurs most weeks of the year. One for under 18s, and the other for 18s and over. These sessions involve as little teaching as possible, but run students through a practice session based of the various “songs of the month”.
  • Access to the our ear-training program on the Complete Ear Trainer app, which has a leadership table for the competitive types among you.
  • Access to our weekly live-streamed guitar lessons. These sessions are weekly events, they are held remotely to an audience composed solely of Guitar to Life students. The students submit requests for subjects to be taught, in real-time or up to a week in advance. These advance-requests are addressed first, followed by any submitted during the session if time allows. Repetition is welcome, i.e. if you want to hear the teacher explain a subject that has been previously covered – that is perfectly all right with us.
  • Opportunities to perform (currently in the development phase, but not for long).
